Hi, fellow Slappers, this is Russ ,aka. older than dirt with big rig. Sorry for not posting directions, it sounded like at last club meeting that most everyone knew where Desert Creek was expect me. Here is what I did, and for some reason even with no BEER it worked. Head south on 395 to Hwy 208, Hoilbrook Junction which is just before you climb the hill to drop into Topaz Lake. Anyway take 208 into Wellington, about 11 mil.. Then take the Wellington cutoff, it's 3 mils. long,( there is a sign indicating hwy 338 at the entrance to the cutoff ). After your little 3 mile site seeing trip the road dead ends into hwy 338, make sure you stop at the stop sign or you may contribute a little more to the Wellington economy. Turn right and head south young dust sniffers, about a half mile down the road is a sign for Desert Creek, do not take this entrance, I repeat DO NOT take this road, your R.V. will be engulfed in thick foliage and lost for decades until Martians or other life forms find it. OK, back on track, once you turn on hwy 338, go about 13 1/2 miles to the south entrance of Desert Creek. If I remember there really isn't a turn off before the 13 mile mark, if you miss the turn off brake hard and take the next turn to your right, it's a short " y " which takes you back to the mane D.C road. OK we've made it this far and all is good, you've almost made it to the beer. Stay on the main road, it's wide, and has some erosion cuts from the U.S.F.D. so don't go to fast they sneak up on you. You'll get to a point where the road gets a little curve and drops down the hill to a " Y " go right, almost there. There is one low branch that who ever gets there first with a tall wagon is going to have to play Paul Bunion with, and that's it, you've made it, let's have a BEER. It's exactly 8 miles to the primary camp site, or 7 miles to secondary one once you leave the pavement. Time to ride, drink, and have fun, see you all there, if you have any questions call me.
